Windowsill by sweetestdrain (vid:recs:spn) I loved the song and the story.


Don't Lose Yourself by sweetestdrain (vid:recs:doctorwho) I keep coming back and re-watching this vid. I love that it's about Donna, I loved the song choice, and the clips and this was just really sad and bittersweet.

It's actually rather good. :) I'm only about halfway through but so far I'm enjoying the book a lot more than the movie which actually makes since for me since I love reading more than just about anything else.

Just one drabble left! I'm all caught up in rereading for one of my writing commitments. Now I just have to finish the many hours of Yuletide source review, whee! XD

I actually have already done work today, gah. I desperately need to clean, too, the house is just sort of going quietly to hell while I'm too busy to care. But, all of the Grab Bags have been paid for now, and will be shipping out on Weds, which is the first day I'll have time. Dentist for me tomorrow, whee, and then Pod gets his shots on Tuesday. At least that won't be as bad as what happens to him two weeks after, snip snip. Poor kid, he has no idea what's coming!

141. Death by Darjeeling (Tea Shop Mystery, Book 1) by Laura Childs.
First book in Childs' "A Tea Shop Mystery" where we are introduced to Theodosia Browning owner of The Indigo Tea shop in Charleston historical district. We also meet her partners in the shop Drayton, tea master extraordinaire, a sixtyish man who reads gay and Haley, the young baker, eternal student.

This first novel takes a long time to get to the core of the mystery and spends a lot of time with exposition, Theo's car, Theo's shop, Theo's hair etc. It drags a bit but the characters are interesting enough in the end.




142. Gunpowder Green (Tea Shop Mystery, Book 2) by Laura Childs.
Must better paced and written than the first novel in the series. The writing is crispier, the characters are more three dimensional. Childs shows more tells less.

Theo finds herself investigating the "accidental" death of one's of Charleston's rich and famous man. The poor man died over one's of Theo catering table cloth. Childs also found a way to bring alive Charleston's historical district without falling into the book/guide travel trap.

Interesting mystery and interesting characters will keep me reading this series.

Instead of concentrating on homework I'm trying to figure out what would happen if an Angel's "Grace" was stolen and given to Sam and Dean...if it's possible, would it change them completely? Would they go insane? And what the hell would happen to the Angel who's Grace was stuck in the body of two humans?

Also, I can't get this one vid I saw out of my head. So I downloaded the song and am listening to it way too often.

Am I the only one that feels like writing slash fan fiction for romance novels? For example, I downloaded Nora Robert's trilogy about 3 friends who unleash a demon when they are like 11 or 10 and all the boys share the same birthday and each book I'm willing to bet is going to be about each of the boys (who are now grown ups) meeting and falling in love with a woman. But I keep thinking why aren't their romance novels but with guys falling in love with each other instead. It's just I'm more interested in the story of the three boys and what they go through than the romance aspect 20 years later.

I'm beginning to think if I want to read those types of stories I may have to write them myself.

I'm rereading my Yuletide source and Strange Creatures so far, and enjoying the little break from writing, though I expect to be back at it soon.

Pod's gotten very bitey in these past few days -- his full kitten hyperness is back, and mommyhands are clearly toys! Which isn't too bad, unless the mommy they're attached to is trying to sleep. -_-

One in the Same by blue_soaring (Sam/Dean) I loved the imagery, and this was very tense and hot.

Snow on the Sahara by absrip (vid:recs:spn) (Sam/Dean) INSTANT REC!!! This video blew me away. I LOVED the song, the clip choices and the story it told and the use of outside sources was inspired. I haven't felt this moved by a vid in ages, run don't walk!

Yesterday was lovely and relaxing and filled with food, and today (minus a brief load of laundry) is looking to be quite similar. This morning I almost got up after about 8.5 hours of sleep, but then Pod and Bella both came and curled up on me, and so I slept until 11:30 instead. Ah, glorious! XD

it's a DVD extra with Angel, Tony Head, Colin and Bradley at an amusement park. I got this link from derryderrydown because she was completely awesome and found the link first and shared it.

The good news is I've found my new shiny fandom. Merlin. :) The bad news is this means I'll probably end up reading a lot more Merlin stories than either SGA or SPN and now that I'm in school I have even less time to read. But actually I figured I'll still read SPN because yeah it's Supernatural...but like what happened when I found SPN I did not completely abandon SGA.

So about my new happy fandom. I figured it out tonight when I was looking at my list of stories to read next and the next 10 are Merlin and I'd much rather read those than any of the other tabs opened on my Firefox browser.

I think at this point now that I have less time I notice I'm reverting to my old ways of reading slash first, anything with non-con/rape elements absolutely first, long stories second, and favorite authors third. But it's kind of a mix of all three criteria.

Honestly, don't think my rec list is going to change much because I found Merlin. Though I do need to get a few more icons.

I WON! :D:D:D I managed not only to just top 50K words, but finish the novella's first draft last night. I'm going to end up expanding a few things and removing a few others, so I think the final version will be around the same length. Though I've "won" at NaNoWriMo before, this is the first year that I've also finished the story in the time allotted.

I also got the Burroughs Map Piece off my very first Ninja in the Mountains. I know you don't care, and I'm telling you anyway.

The kittehs have discovered the Chase game, which I encourage, and the "Bella thwaps the kitten to show she's dominant" game, which I only discourage when the kitten hides behind me. I'm amused at how the kitten doesn't even fight. She whaps, he rolls over and shows his belly and makes an "I surrender" gesture. XD Oh, kittehs.

With regards to the drabbles, all I have to say is, you people and your weird-ass holidays and thank the internets for Google!

I'm under 1000 words from "winning" NaNoWriMo, and a few more scenes after that from being done with the book. One more good night of writing, and the first draft could be done! XD
